I took a little drive down to Makena yesterday and there were so many cars parked along the road.  Reason?  Makena, Iao Valley and Wainapanapa now require visitors to pay an entrance/parking fee.  This applies to only non residents of Hawaii.  For example if you wanted to go to Makena and are a visitor, there would be a parking fee for the car ($10) and a fee for each of the persons ($5) visiting the beach.  Payment is being accepted via kiosks.  Maui County has to make money some... read more

Well, it's summer and Maui is still in the midst of a shutdown.  Hawaii as a whole has had triple digit positive cases for almost a month.  While Oahu has been in a work from home/stay home order since Thursday, us Mauians have been able to experience more "normal" thing such as going to the beach to swim or gather in small groups of five or less and practice social distancing.  How has that affected South Maui's real estate market?  Check this out...Total number of new listing for August: 127 p... read more

July started off with a whimper.  July 4th was not the usual fun times filled with fireworks and bbq's.  COVID for the most part kept Mauians in check.  Two weeks later, Hawaii started having more positive cases which in turn caused the governor to delay opening up the islands to mainland travelers who tests negative for COVID.  The excitement of having Maui's lifeblood (visitors) return has been muted.That continued delay for mainland travelers have not dampened buyers and sellers in South Maui... read more

Property Tax 2020

Maui County Rates
